Five Purposes
| Worship – Connecting with God |
|
God is our source for all things. He has blessed us with His goodness and grace. Our response to these blessing is to Worship Him. As a church body, we are to worship Him in corporate worship. We are also to worship Him individually, with our daily lives, in all that we say and do. God desires a daily connection with Him.
In our corporate worship setting, our desire is to provide a relevant and meaningful experience where we can express our love and thankfulness to Him. We provide two times for this worship experience. We have worship with contemporary music/video/drama, and worship with traditional hymns/choir/piano.
Sunday
- 8:30AM – Worship with a blended style (choir, piano, organ, hymns and praise music)
- 10:00AM – Worship with a contemporary style (band, praise team, drama, video)
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17

| Evangelism – Spreading the Message of Salvation through Christ Jesus |
|
After being Connected to God, Sharing our lives with others, Growing in Christlike character, and Serving other in Christ’s name, we are so full of God’s grace that we have no other option than to Spread the joy we feel. We want other to experience the fullness that life, through Christ Jesus, has to offer.
“I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ.” Philemon 1:6
|
| Fellowship – Sharing Life with other Believers |
|
Our connection to God is important, but He is not physically here on earth. Fortunately, He has given us each other, people with whom we can share our Christian lives with. As brothers and sister in Christ, it is extremely important to share everything with each other. We share our hopes, dreams, worries, and frustrations. God created us to need one another and to grow in our faith together.
“For where two or three are come together in my name, there I am with them.” Matthew 18:20
“May the God who give endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:5-6
“How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity.” Psalm 133:1

| Ministry – Serving Others in Christ’s Name |
|
Serving is one of the major character traits of Jesus. So, if we are growing in our Christlike character, we have no option but to serve. The church and it’s members exist to serve God and others, those who are Christians and those who are not yet Christians. God has blessed each one of us with Spiritual Gifts, Heart/Passions, Abilities, Personalities, and Experiences. However he does not want us just to keep them to ourselves, we are to use these blessing to serve. At First Baptist Church, it is important to us that you understand all that God has blessed you with. We offer may opportunities to help you uncover and put your S.H.A.P.E. to work.
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
|
| Discipleship – Growing in Christlike Character |
|
God loves us just the way we are, but as part of His family he expects us to grow and mature into the model he has set before us here on earth, His Son Jesus Christ. Studying the character of Christ and developing the habits necessary to become as Christlike as humanly possible is our goal at First Baptist Church.
“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
“To the Jews who had believed him Jesus said, If you hold to my teachings, you are really my disciples.”
John 8:31
